  • lesson 43: What are your new Financial Year focii?

Every 6 months I do strategic visioning, looking at what has happened in the last 6 months and where I’d like to be in 6 months, both personally and professionally. I look at what I’ll focus on with laser like intensity. So, with my mother suddenly going in for a quadruple bypass today I remembered the saying (more…)

  • lesson 40: retraining the brain

Neuroscience shows that we can retrain our brain by practising thoughts & skills. This means our association with a word such as money or credit card can be changed. To start with we need to identify those words that have a less than positive reaction in our body, then we can …

  • lesson 39: the gift of time or money

For some Government employees it’s payday today in Australia. They may have a few hundred dollars until next payday but they all have 336 hours until the next payday in 14 days, just like every living creature on this planet. So what? Well are you wasting your time and /or money? Indeed the reason time costs money is because it’s our most valuable resource as I’ve said before. For the next 7 days record your time expenses. If you “waste” your time (ie surfing the net for an hour) then that is effectively throwing money away. If you spent that hour investing in your head (the greatest piece of real estate you will ever own) then you’ll be able to stop working for your money sooner, as it will be working for you.

To help you get started here FINALLY are the two revamped websites:

    www.yourmoneymistress.com

    www.financialfitness.com.au

Would love your feedback! Until next, may you have more love and less debt! xx

  • lesson 38: Think BIG!!

It’s a quickie this week as I try to get 2 websites with resources up for you. Thinking about the BIG picture (ie the planet, climate change, third world countries and mother nature’s wrath) will help you save money. How so? Well, do you really need that new item of clothing? When your mind is concentrating on making the world a better place you actually forget to waste money. Watch my video about Thinking BIG & please share it so we can have more love and less debt in the world. My YouTube channel is YOur MOney Mistress if you’d like to watch more. xx

  • lesson 37: Your success & status symbol

A couple of weeks ago there was an article on news.com about BMW chasing people who could not afford their $1000/wk repayments. There were comments from readers saying it was the car purchaser’s own fault, as well as comments about the cost of cars in Australia compared to overseas and how people perceived others as successful.

Well how about writing your own definition of success? Do it now. Write “I am successful because ….” It could be that you have beautiful, healthy children that know they are loved. Or it could be that you spend a couple of hours each week on you and loved ones. Perhaps all who meet you thank you for being a shining light of joy, always with a smile or good for a laugh.

Those who have read earlier posts know that I offered my nieces and nephews the World vision catalogue and they chose the toilet (having studied disease in science). So why can’t our status symbol be how many people we’re saving overseas? If child sponsorship costs $40/mth then $1000/wk could save 100 children! We need to change our thinking or we’ll end up suffering due to due social “norms”. Have an awesome, non materialistic week! xx

  • lesson 36: sexually transmitted Debt

With Valentine’s Day love lingering in the air, don’t forget that STDs (sexually transmitted debt) can be worse than catching an STI (sexually transmitted infection). STIs can generally be fixed with a short course of antibiotics but signing on the line with your loved one for a large loan, could backfire for years to come if you break up. Always know your rights & obligations. Also remember that spending money to feel good will never really fill that empty void that can only be filled with human connection, including with yourself. Be grateful for all that you currently have and everyday, smile and hug at least one person (even if it’s yourself). Because it’s much easier to love someone else once you know how to love yourself.

  • lesson 35: New year already gone

Recently I went to my 1st Toastmasters meeting for the year and our warm up, introduction exercise was to stand up and say what our New Year resolutions were. I wasn’t the only one who said I don’t make New Year resolutions. Rather I like to live every day as if it’s an exciting adventure, with healthy habits that I improve upon. Of course the New Year as with Birthdays, sees many of us reflecting on what we can do better.

If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter at www.financialfitness.com.au (the more conservative approach to Your Money Mistress) then you didn’t see how I wrote my “Being” poem. Instead of saying what you want this year, write down who / what you want to be (eg I am non judgemental, I am a considerate lover or I communicate freely with my partner about money).

Who you are will determine what you achieve and thus, receive. Here’s to a year full of all the S&M (sex & money) you desire (and that means what works for you, be it once a year or every day)!  xx
